My primary areas of research are in the philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence. I also have a substantial interest in the philosophy of psychiatry and a background in philosophy of perception.

Topics I have published on include the feeling of bodily ownership, the metaphysics of bodily pain, the nature of delusional belief, the risk of AI suffering and prospects for AI welfare, and the psychological mechanisms of psychedelic therapy.

Much of my current research is focused on the rational relationship between affective states such as moods and emotions and cognitive states such as beliefs.
